Amsterdam as Capital City of Holland, is overloaded with bikes: As an average, every citizen of Amsterdam owns at least 2 bikes (so about 1.500.000 bikes). There is almost no bike without imperfections like: no round wheels, no lightning, flat tires etc. This is probably an effect of the high rate of "using each other bike, without permission". If you are reporting a stolen bike at a Police office in Amsterdam, you will probably been categorized as a weird person that's not of this time and world. Even high class people, that perfectly can afford them selves an own bike, are some times thieves by accident, because the vehicle that they where using to come somewhere has been stolen, and they want to go home.
